IS SICKNESS EVIDENCE OF GOD’S DISPLEASURE?

Is Sickness Evidence of God’s Displeasure? We have examined both the Old Testament and the new. It appears God did punish individuals in the olden time, due to sin. But the New Testament gives little indication that God punishes man with illness today because of sin. Notice Hebrews 5:8, "Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered." God might allow illness to cause us to draw closer to Him, but not punish us. If through suffering Jesus learned obedience, then God might use illness to cause us to examine our lives closer. Romans 8:28, says "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Instead of thinking God is punishing us, we would be encouraged to remember, God loves us, and even though we might be suffering now, yet all things are going to work for good, even though we cannot understand at the time. We should never cease to pray that God would heal us. Yet remember to accept His will, whatever it might be.
