City Of Hartshorne #OK3006101, 1101 Penn Ave. Hartshorne, OK 74547 Date 3/3/2016 RE: 2015 Water Quality Report (Consumer Confidence Report) Dear Water Customer: (City of Hartshorne) purchases water from (Pittsburg County Water Authority) and provide safe drinking water to your homes. The attached report from (City of Hartshorne) shows the quality of your water. We are required to test for bacteria, lead, copper, and disinfection byproducts, in addition to those tested by (Pittsburg County Water Authority). The following table shows our 2014 results for each contaminant detected: *Action levels-90% of samples must be below this level. In this table you will find many terms and abbreviations you might not be familiar with. To help you better understand these terms we've provided the following definitions: *Non-Detected (ND) laboratory analysis indicates that the constituent is not present. *Parts per million (ppm) or Milligrams per liter (mg/l) *Parts per billion (ppb) or Micrograms per liter (ug/l) *Parts per trillion (ppt) or Nanograms per liter (nanograms/l) *Parts per quadrillion (ppq) or Picograms per liter (picograms) Violation Substance Y/N Level Detected MCL MCLG Sources of Contaminants Microbiological Contaminants Total Coliform Bacteria N 0 0 Positive Naturally present in the environment. Fecal Coliform and E. Coli N 0 0 Positive Human and animal fecal waste Inorganic Contaminants Copper (ppm) 2014 N *AL-1.3 1.3 Corrosion of household plumbing Systems: erosion of natural deposits; leaching from wood preservatives. Lead (ppb) 2014 N *AL-15 0 Corrosion of household plumbing systems; erosion of natural deposits. *Action Level (AL) the concentration of a contaminant which, if exceeded, triggers treatment or other requirements which a water system must follow. *Treatment Technique (TT) (mandatory language) A treatment technique is a required process intended to reduce the level of a contaminant in the water. *Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) (mandatory language) The MCL is the highest level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to the MCLGs as feasible using the best available treatment technology. *Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) (mandatory language) The MCLG is the level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for a margin of safety. * Lead. Infants and children who drink water containing lead in excess of the action level could experience delays in their physical or mental development. Children could show slight deficits in attention span and learning abilities. Adults who drink this water over many years could develop kidney problems or high blood pressure. * TTHMS (Total Trihalomethanes). Some people who drink water containing trihalomethanes in excess of the MCL over many years may experience problems with their liver, kidneys, or central nervous systems, and may have an increased risk of getting cancer. Violation Type Violation Begin Violation End Violation Explanation CCR Reports 07/01/2010 2014 We failed to provide to you, our drinking water customers 07/01/2011 2014 an annual report that informs you about the quality of 07/01/2012 2014 our water drinking water and characterizes the risk from 07/01/2014 2014 exposure to contaminants detected in our drinking water. Haloacetic Acids (HAA5) Some people who drink water containing haloacetic acids in excess of the MCL over many years may have an increased risk of getting cancer. Violation Type Violation Begin Violation End Violation Explanation MCL, LRAA 07/01/2014 9/30/2014 Water samples showed that the amount of the contaminant in our drinking water was above its standard (called a maximum contaminant level and abbreviated (MCL) for the period indicated Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) Some people who drink water containing trihalomethanes in excess of the MCL over many years may experience problems with their livers, kidneys or central. Violation Type Violation Begin Violation End Violation Explanation MCL, LRAA 07/01/2014 9/30/2014 Water samples showed that the amount of the contaminant in our drinking water was above its MCL, LRAA 10/01/2014 12/31/2014 standard (called A maximum contaminant level and abbreviated MCL) for the period indicated. Decisions regarding your water are made by the City Council that meets regularly on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
